Playground Engineering & Design Building Set

The Playground Engineering & Design Building Set from Learning Resources invites young children to think like engineers by snapping together pieces to build playground structures. Following the illustrated Challenge Cards, students recreate equipment such as a twisting slide, a swing set and a seesaw, or invent playground designs of their own. The set contains 104 pieces, 10 double-sided Challenge Cards and an Activity Guide with reproducible worksheets built around the engineering design process. Building and rebuilding helps children strengthen fine motor control, spatial reasoning, sequencing and the ability to follow step-by-step instructions. Because it needs no screens or batteries, it fits easily into STEM centres and small-group work in early-years and lower-primary classrooms, and it can be used by a single child or shared between pairs and groups.

Tree House Engineering & Design Building Set

The Tree House Engineering & Design Building Set (LER 2844) from Learning Resources introduces early engineering through a tree house theme. Children use platforms, decks, leaves and other tree house parts to construct structures, then test and re-engineer them to meet a goal. The set includes more than 40 tree house pieces, a character figure, five Challenge Cards and stickers for decorating, along with an activity guide containing a printable planning sheet and an outline of the Engineering Design Process. The decoration element adds an art component, making the kit suitable for STEAM lessons. In the classroom, the Challenge Cards give young learners a clear problem to solve, while the planning sheet encourages them to sketch ideas, build, investigate what works and improve their design, reinforcing problem solving, investigation and design skills.

Clixo Mars Rovers Pack – 30 pcs magnetic building set

The Clixo Mars Rovers Pack is a flexible magnetic construction set with a space-exploration theme. Its pieces glow in the dark, and the pack adds all-terrain wheels, fire blasters and custom parts so children can build rovers, motorcycles and space drones to explore imaginary Martian landscapes. The pack contains 30 pieces in 12 different Clixo shapes. Each flexible piece has embedded magnets that connect to one another, letting children fold flat 2D shapes into 3D models. Swappable axles widen the range of vehicles that can be built, and the pieces are compatible with other Clixo packs. Open-ended building with Clixo supports spatial reasoning, hands-on experimentation and creative thinking, making the pack a good fit for maker corners and space-themed STEAM activities in lower-primary classrooms.

    Bosch Accessories Set (toy tools)

This Bosch-designed accessory set from Theo Klein lets young children dress up as real tradespeople. It includes toy work gloves, bright yellow goggles and ear protectors, so children look fully equipped while they pretend to carry out building and DIY jobs. The items are toys for role-play and imitation games only and do not provide any real protective function. They pair naturally with Klein's Bosch toy tool range, such as toolboxes, workbenches and toy drills, to create a complete pretend workshop. In early-years settings, the set supports imaginative play, conversation about jobs and workplace safety routines, and cooperative play in construction or dramatic-play corners. It is suitable for children aged three and over.

    Robot Turtles

Robot Turtles from ThinkFun is a board game that teaches young children the fundamentals of programming without a screen. An adult or older child sets up a maze on the board, and each young player lays down code cards such as move forward, turn left and turn right to steer their turtle to a jewel. As they progress, children move from simple sequences of commands to ideas like debugging mistakes and using functions to repeat steps. The box contains a game board, 40 game tiles, 4 Robot Turtle tiles, 4 jewel tiles and 4 code card decks of 45 cards each, for two or more players. The game takes moments to learn and can be replayed with new mazes, making it a practical unplugged-coding activity for kindergarten and early-primary classrooms, where teachers can guide small groups through increasingly challenging levels.

    Code Master

Code Master from ThinkFun is a programming logic game played without a computer. The player's avatar travels across a fantasy world collecting power crystals, and in each level only one specific sequence of actions will collect every crystal and finish on the portal. Players arrange action tokens and conditional tokens into a program, then follow it step by step on the map to check whether it works. The set includes an avatar, a portal, 6 crystals, 10 maps with 60 levels, 12 guide scrolls, 12 action tokens, 8 conditional tokens, and instructions with solutions. Beyond introducing core programming ideas such as sequences and conditionals, the game builds planning, sequential reasoning and problem-solving skills. Its self-checking levels make it well suited to independent work, enrichment time or coding stations in upper-primary and middle-school classrooms.

    Roller Coaster Challenge

Roller Coaster Challenge from ThinkFun combines a marble run with a logic puzzle. Each challenge card shows how to set up part of the coaster on the game grid and which pieces are left to place; the player must work out where those pieces go so a working coaster runs from start to finish. The 40 challenges progress from Easy through Medium and Hard to Super Hard, and solutions are included. The set contains a game grid, 39 track pieces, 36 post pieces and 2 tunnels, and pieces such as the loop also allow free-form coaster building once the challenges are done. Players practise logical reasoning, critical thinking and visual-spatial planning while testing their designs with a real rolling car. It works well as a one-player activity in STEM centres or as a hands-on way to discuss height, slopes and motion with lower and upper-primary students.
