    Earth Science Mega Set

Part of the National Geographic Mega Science Series, the Earth Science Kit brings together more than 15 hands-on activities in one box. Students grow a crystal in as little as three days, build and paint their own volcano and set off several types of eruptions, and use tornado tubes to create water vortices and race them against each other. Two dig kits let learners excavate a rose quartz specimen and pyrite specimens, while a selenite piece shows how some minerals let light pass through. A starter rock collection introduces specimens such as snowflake obsidian, tiger's eye, green fluorite, pumice, desert rose, blue calcite, agate and geodes. A full-color learning guide explains the science behind crystals, volcanoes, tornadoes and gemstones. With so many separate activities, the kit works well for group rotations, earth science units or home-school study.

Crystal Growing Lab with Light-Up Base

This National Geographic crystal growing lab lets students explore crystal formation by growing crystals in six colors: red, green, blue, purple, yellow and glow-in-the-dark. The crystals develop in about three to four days, giving learners a short, observable chemistry project. The kit contains six colors of crystal growing powder, six clear seed rocks, two flexible silicone growing chambers, a wooden stirring spoon and a magnifying glass. It also includes four real specimens (rose quartz, fluorite, blue calcite and a quartz geode) and a light-up display base, connected by USB, that holds five finished crystals. A full-color STEM learning guide with instructions explains how crystals form. In class, students can record daily growth, compare results between colors and use the specimens and display base to start a small mineral collection.

    Crystal Growing Garden

This National Geographic crystal growing craft kit mixes art with chemistry. Students color the included cherry and evergreen trees with washable markers, then stand them in crystal growing liquid. The first crystals appear within minutes, take on the colors the student chose, and can cover the trees in as little as six hours. The kit includes three tree bases, two cherry trees, one evergreen tree, five washable markers, three packs of crystal growing liquid, an instruction booklet, a genuine geode specimen and a full-color learning guide about crystal growth. If crystals fall off, the tree can be regrown by adding them back to the base with a little water. Because results appear so quickly, the kit suits a single lesson or club session on solutions, evaporation and crystal formation, with students able to compare how color and placement affect their crystal trees.

    Volcano Science Kit

The National Geographic Volcano Science Kit takes students through the full process of making a model volcano. They cast the volcano from plaster using the included mold, paint it, and then use eruption powder to make it erupt. The kit includes plaster, a volcano mold, paints and a paintbrush, eruption powder, three volcanic rock specimens (geode, obsidian and pumice) and a full-color learning guide. The guide covers tectonic plates, earthquakes, how volcanoes form and the different types of volcanic rock. The project fits naturally into an earth science unit: students can build and decorate their models over one session, run eruptions in the next, and use the real rock specimens to link the model to actual geology.

    Light-Up Air Rockets

National Geographic Light-Up Air Rockets are launched with air pressure: students stomp on an extra-large pad and the rockets can travel up to 100 feet. Each rocket has a foam tip and switchable LED lights, so launches can also be done at dusk or after dark. The set includes three LED-equipped rockets, a launcher base, a launch tube and a learning guide with instructions. The launch base is adjustable, so rockets can be sent straight up or angled outwards, letting students test different launch angles and flight paths. The learning guide explains the science that makes the rockets fly. Outdoors, the kit supports simple investigations into force, air pressure and trajectory, while also encouraging physical activity, balance and cooperative play.

    Metal Detector Starter Kit

The National Geographic junior metal detector is designed for beginners. It has a 7.4-inch waterproof dual coil that can detect metal objects up to about 6 inches below the surface, with adjustable sensitivity. When a target is found, the detector beeps and shows the result on an easy-to-read LCD screen. It offers three selectable detection modes and a pinpoint function for locating a target more precisely once an area has been found. Weighing about 1.4 pounds, it has a telescoping arm and comfort grip, and folds down with a removable arm support for storage. A trowel is included for digging up finds. The full-color learning guide covers the science and history of metal detecting. Schools can use it for outdoor investigations on magnetism and electromagnetism, or for hidden-object searches on the school grounds.

    Rock & Mineral Starter Kit

The National Geographic Rock and Mineral Starter Kit gives students 15 genuine specimens to begin a geology collection. The set includes hematite, rose quartz, snowflake obsidian, tiger's eye, red jasper, green aventurine, green zebra jasper, desert rose, pumice, pyrite, blue quartz, blue calcite and fluorite, with two samples each of rose quartz and green aventurine. A magnifying glass is included for examining color, luster and texture up close, and the specimens are stored in a clear case that doubles as a display. In the classroom, the kit supports lessons on identifying and classifying rocks and minerals. Students can compare physical properties, sort the specimens into groups and use the collection as a reference set for earth science activities.

    Fool's Gold Mini Dig Kit

The National Geographic Fool's Gold Dig Kit lets students excavate genuine pyrite, the mineral known as Fool's Gold, from dig bricks shaped like gold bars. Each brick is individually wrapped and comes with its own digging tools, so the kit can be shared among several students. As they dig, learners practise careful excavation and then identify the rock specimens they uncover. The full-color learning guide explains what pyrite is, why it is called Fool's Gold, how gold is used and how gold exploration has developed through history, including the Gold Rush. Because the bricks are individually packed, the kit is well suited to group work in the classroom, earth science lessons on minerals, or as a hands-on activity for science clubs and events.
